App shots & PPID images - overview

The finish line of NPI: where produced imagery becomes the two image types that ship to the product website. Photography, video, and CG all converge here. Review happens in Iconik and flips a Monday subitem status, the same as every other NPI task. For each SKU these steps live in the subitems on the Product Planning (NPI) board.

  • App shots - the product in a styled / lifestyle setting (with a concept image upstream).
  • PPID images - the catalog product images, from approved photography or renders.
  1. concept_image - internal concept/mood imagery, often produced with generative AI. A Lead reviews it if one is assigned. With no Lead, the Brand Manager reviews it - unless the BM is the task’s assignee (you don’t review your own work) or there’s no BM, in which case it self-approves. A blank assignee defaults to BM Review. Either way it ends at Completed.
  2. app_shot - the product in a styled setting. It starts once the concept image is done and photography_versions or renders is approved. Normally the PMM then the PM approve it; a Lead only reviews first when one is assigned to the SKU. Approved app shots publish to the website and feed the product video’s post_production alongside the script and voiceover.
  1. ppid_images - approved photography_versions or renders enter PPID prep; the PM does the website tagging (thumbnail codes + image order), then Approved. The web exports then publish and the pipeline closes itself out - ppid_images flips to Completed once both web tasks land.

app_shot reaches Approved after PMM and PM review - a Lead reviews first only when one is assigned - and is then published. ppid_images is Completed once both web exports land.
